About Us
The Journey
Jeremy Taylor almost gave up on piano. When he was 7 he complained the songs in his beginner book were boring, so much so that his parents let him quit.
For the next few years he poked around on the piano and made up some little melodies, but he couldn’t get traction for how to play the kind of music that excited him. Finally when he was 12 his older sister, who’d been taking piano lessons for years, taught him how to play a cool song, “In the Mood.” He played it so much that his parents signed him up for lessons with a teacher!
Since then, Jeremy has always had a next song that he’s been excited to learn. Combining that motivation with skilled instruction from loving teachers, he’s kept playing better and better, and he’s so grateful for where he is now and for the journey so far!
Bio
Jeremy grew up homeschooled in Miami, FL, and he’s grateful for the classical emphasis of his education. Latin taught him the structure of language and grammar and helps him see the roots of so many English words. And he gained a love of literature from digging into works like Homer, Herodotus, Beowulf, Dante’s Inferno and Dickens.
Jeremy is so thankful for the church he grew up in, where he learned about his lord and savior Jesus, and where he had ample opportunity to connect with friends and with music. Between children’s choir, musicals, bell choir, adult choir, art classes, piano recitals, VBS skits and youth group events, he enjoyed so many opportunities to engage and express himself.
In 2010 Jeremy moved to the Chattanooga area to attend Covenant College, which focused on integrating faith, learning and life. Some highlights were deepening friendships, engaging mission trips, and playing a piano concerto with the orchestra. In 2014 he graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano and stayed in Chattanooga.
Since then Jeremy’s focus and joy has been teaching piano lessons to students from beginning to advanced levels, ages 5 to 70. He enjoys coaching and encouraging his students through their challenges with manageable steps.
Jeremy has also had the privilege of playing for churches and weddings in the Chattanooga area, directing choir for East Lake Expression Engine, and leading worship music at Grace Presbyterian in Jasper, TN.
